Wishing for Spring

This year when I put my Christmas decorations away, I left some of my smaller snowmen out to decorate the kitchen for winter.  I had a snowman quilt hanging on the wall, greens and pinecones in wooden bowls and tiny snowmen on the windowsill.  I think I may have jinxed us....we have had the snowiest winter in quite a few years.  This week I decided enough was enough.  If I have to look at snow for the next several weeks (there is still so much on the ground), then at least in the house I would introduce some Spring.   So, I safely stowed away the remaining greens and snowmen and started arranging some of my Spring decor.
A farm quilt (I made this one 2 years ago) hangs on the wall now...

I took apart some old silk flower arrangements and placed them and my garden bunny in an old basket as a new centerpiece for the table.  (Determined that I was not going to buy anything, but to repurpose what I already had).

I picked up some yellow carnations at the grocery store and placed them on the windowsill in an antique syrup can.

If I have to endure weeks more of snow, at least there will be Spring in my heart and in my home!

If you live in the part of the country where Spring has already arrived....take a deep breath and breathe in the wonderful fragrance.  Feel the warmth of the sun on your face.  Hear the joyful songs of the birds.  And when you have drunk in all that you can.....send a little bit my way.
I sure could use a little....as I sit here looking out the window at grey skies, barren trees, and huge piles of snow all around!

I did the same thing earlier this week, packed up all the snowman. They are safe for next year, and looking forward to some spring.

I too was 'forced' to pick up some flowers to cheer me up. Carnations, red and some tiny little daffs. It sure helps doesn't it?

Love the quilt. The inside of your home feels like spring. Sure hope that the outside will soon show signs of spring and warmth.

What a great post!! I've complained for weeks about the cold weather but never thought to "spring up" inside my house. You've inspired me and I love the idea of repurposing instead of buying new. Think I'll try that as well. Hope spring is just around the corner for both of us.

I absolutely adore the bunny sniffing the flower beside the can of carnations. I do believe you are ready for spring. Sun is shining her and it's a balmy 52 degrees. I'm going to look for my daff's when I get home tonight.

Hello Beverly,

I remember when you made that wall hanging. I know you have tons of snow since we have had much more than usual. It's our first winter here so we didn't know what to expect.

I can safely report that I don't have to deal with the amount that you get! YAY :0) My goodness..it's been quite a winter so far.

Go ahead! Pull out all of the springtime stuff..if the season won't change outside by all means change it inside. :0)

Hi Beverly,
Well it may be warmer down here but our ground is mud. More rain to come. Just think you'll be to busy to sew with all of your gardening and work to be around the farm. Love the quilt.
Keep Stitchen'
