We have been trying, in all that we do, to be as green
as possible.
I stopped buying plastic storage bags over a year ago.
Instead I bought this....
I keep re-using the ones I have.
I keep the ones that are given to me by others.
This bag had a cherry pie inside...a gift to Hubbs.
I simply washed and rinsed the bag and hung it on the rack to dry.
It saves me a little money.
And keeps the trash from being overloaded with plastic.
Which, by the way, doesn't decompose for centuries.
Long after humans are gone from the face of this earth,
our plastic will remain.... the reminder of our throw-away society.
If you are interested in joining me in this effort,
You can purchase one of these handy driers

I rewash mine as well. I made a hanger (not as cool as that one) by bending a couple of wire hangers. I can put three on each.
I don't like plastic bags at all, but one good thing is an 8th grade class at our school is collecting and then giving them to women at the Ethiopian Women's Shelter where they turn them into plarn and then crochet handbags and totes which can be used over and over again. They truly are the coolest things ever. Something that would float around the world is now being put to good use. Bravo to you and you family for being green. This world sure makes it hard sometimes. Wishing you all the best :) TAmmy

I have always rewashed mine as well except if there has been frozen meat in them. I suppose I could soak them, but I'm afraid to. Any thoughts on that?
I reuse my plastic bags as often as possible and drying them was always a pain. Went to one of the sites you mentioned and ordered a bag dryer. Actually had been looking at purchasing one for a while. You just gave me the little nudge I needed. :-)
That's the only way I can justify using plastic bags..by re-using them. Sometimes when I know I will only use it once (like in storing a onion) I use a bread bag or the wrap that the newspaper came in..every little bit helps.
Makes me think of my Grammy...she always had a rack kinda like this on the side of her cupboard to put the dish clothes, etc......what a precious memory.............
