Redwork Self Portrait

While visiting my friend, Steph's vintage ephemera blog, I came upon a picture of an old redwork pattern. How on earth did Steph find this...it is actually a picture of ME! So I decided that my next quilt will be a self-portrait quilt for my sewing room. I will use all of the little scraps that I have left over from other projects and do a patchwork quilt around this piece of redwork embroidery that I have started.
I downloaded Steph's picture....took it into Photoshop and got rid of the pink background....printed it onto white fabric....and am embroidering it. Next I will begin piecing a quilt around it. Most likely it will be a wall hanging sized quilt to hang in my sewing room.
Thanks Steph!!

What a fantasic idea Bev! Can't wait to see your finished creation!!! I just got (another) sewing machine that looks like that one, it's a "Household" with fancy legs and the sewing machine is in a wood box on top. Love your redwork Bev!

Hugs,
Maryjane

I LOVE Red Work, especially since it can be done in any color to coordinate with what ever color scheme one has....
I have also found R.W. patterns on the internet to download onto compatible embroidery machines...
Bev, you always "keep me institches!" lol!

That's a great idea. I don't know how to use Photoshop~shameful I know~but hubby does and I will have to have him try this for me. There are a few images I would like to use from Steph's site.

Bev, that's gonna be so cute. :0) Ok, I need to know how you removed the background color?? I've got photoshop elements and an the old version 7 of Photoshop...sure would save a lot of steps for those that want to print directly on the fabric I'd learn to do what you did.

Ok, so teach me something so I don't have to hunt for how to do it. :0)

Hugs, Steph

I love your redwork picture! I saw this on Sue's blog and she directed me to your blog. Can I get a copy of this design? I would love to stitch it for myself! I love that it's a picture of you.
