More Laundry Day Essentials

Last week I made Minerva's Laundry Day apron with extra large, deep pockets for clothespins.  By the end of the week it was in the mail to Colorado. (Hope you enjoy it, Bonne!!)  That left me with a problem, though....still no place to put my clothespins.  So this morning, while a load was washing, I headed up to my sewing room to use up the remaining apron fabric.  I had no pattern, but I had a plan.   I thought I would shape a clothespin bag to fit over an old wooden child's hanger that I had.  A little bias tape and rick rack added and voila...........
Plenty of room to store my clothespins and handy to grab and throw in my laundry basket as I head out the door.

Moving to the country has once again given me the energy saving pleasure of line-drying laundry.  I love the smell of freshly laundered sheets that have been line dried.  And if I almost never have to use my dryer....well, think of the energy savings!!

That is adorable and now you've got me thinking....I have wanted to make one for some time and now I know that it needs to be vintage looking fabric. That is just perfect! Love it.

Nice job Bev. We do so much laundry, that I would need a lot of acreage to dry the laundry on a clothes line. Oh well. We are going to pick up our Moro blood orange tree today. I thought that I would never eat one or that my dh would ever let us buy one. Now we will have oranges all year long. Yeah!

Oh Bev that is really pretty! My ugly store bought one looks icky next to yours. Our HOA doesn't allow clothes lines here but I use clothes pins for everything. So I like to have my handy and out.

Your clothes pin holder is adorable! So cute! Thank you again for sharing the fabric with me. I'm working on a little gift for you, but it'll be a little longer. :-) We have a clothes line (one of those spider web looking things) outside and I love drying laundry on it. During the colder month or on rainy days I use an indoor drying rack I bought back in Germany. It's a laundry "tower" and not all that practical, but it keeps me from using the dryer.

What a cute idea for your pins. When I married many, many years ago, my mother made a denim bag than you wore like a purse over your neck with one arm sticking through. I used it for many years when I had a line outside. I still have it in my laundry room, but seldom have a chance to use it anymore.
